Welcome!

Welcome to my Travel + Lifestyle Blog!

May 21, 2019

Hi there! My name is Genelyn (Gen), the creative behind Genelyn Jaye Photography.

In 2012, I picked up my first DSLR and took what I learned from online photography courses and high school video production classes (lol) to create the foundation of a passion of mine that continues to grow today. I decided to take my love for photography to the next level in 2017 by creating the Genelyn Jaye Photography brand and website. Through making its presence known in the social media realm, I was able to open doors to new and familiar faces. After hearing my clients' stories while simultaneously working to help document their memories, I've decided to finally start practicing what I preach and document the stories of my own life.

I have wanted to create a blog for years now. I mean, in this day and age, who hasn't entertained the idea of starting a blog at least once? Ideas would come to me, but I always struggled with when and how to start. I'd tell myself, "Oh, maybe next year when I have more time," or "I'll wait a bit longer when I have a stronger idea to kick it off." However, I've realized today that I needed to confront my insecurities and uncertainties and just go.for.it. Although one of my goals is to provide readers with quality content, I've decided that it's just as important to embrace the LEARNING experience of it all. That includes all the misspellings, awkward sentences, and mediocre blogging that is inevitable at this stage of my writing. It's undeniable to me that I am SO excited to start capturing my memories and stories in a creative way that "future Gen" will enjoy reflecting on one day.

With all this said, WELCOME to Storytelling by Gen. My writing focus will be about my travels and adventure photoshoots, but I hope for this to become a platform where we can inspire each other, laugh together, and share all of the wins and losses that life can surprise us with.

Thanks for reading!

& Cheers to new beginnings,
Gen
